Why is this topic interesting and why are we talking about it now?

The topic is interesting because it is extremely important for women to know their bodies and be awareness of any irregular symptoms they may experience in their bodies.  I’m talking about it now because I learned the hard way. I am dealing with uterine cancer and trying to beat cancer.

How does your story relate to the viewers?

I was diagnosed with uterine cancer in August 2016, and the cancer spread to my lungs. Because of my diagnosis, I started doing research to learn more about uterine cancer. I wanted to spread the word about uterine cancer because most people never heard much about uterine cancer. I met several men who lost their wives to uterine cancer because they did not know about it and they were told they had fibroids and it turned out to be uterine cancer. It’s a hard type of cancer to detect and it spread rapidly.

Uterine Cancer is a silent killer and can spread anywhere in the body.  The media doesn’t make a big deal about uterine cancer like they do breast cancer, and it is just as dangerous as breast cancer.

How does your story benefit the viewers?

My story will be beneficial to the viewers because it may save a life or more. I have a petition to help everyone’s company to pay for an annual CT scan; this will help discover disease in the body early.  Early detection is a key to healing. Here is the link: https://www.change.org/p/teamcjcolas-uterine-cancer-awareness-foundation-insurance-companies-should-pay-for-annual-ct-scans-for-patients

Summary of message to audience (key points):  Overall I want the audience to be aware and get educated about uterine cancer. Uterine cancer can spread anywhere in the body, and it’s a silent killer. It’s hard to detect, and you don’t really have symptoms when uterine cancer starts.

Why is this topic interesting and why are we talking about it now?

I think the focus is one creating a pathway for inventors and entrepreneurs. I mentioned that our vision was to create a process for God’s People to manifest God’s Ideas. We are a virtual incubator that supports work without walls.

We have a proprietary vetting tool that assists inventors and those wanting to start a business. It is providing a comprehensive review of the invention or business. At the end of the client gets a SWOT analysis that is typically 40 pages long. The results are based on the answers and safe in that the idea and or business is never revealed. It’s a great way to vet yourself safely.

Summary of message to audience (key points):

  • Everyone has ideas, inventions, business concepts. Few will take the time to vet it, allow productive scrutiny.
  • We believe these ideas and concepts are God given.
  • We have an entrepreneur “Bill of Rights” but these rights must be exercised.
  • There are fundamental steps to successfully take an invention from concept to profitability.
  • We believe that the process must be in the control of the inventor not handed over to others. We educate and create relationships that empowers the individual rather than doing it for them.

Why is this show interesting and why are we talking about it now?

My book released for purchase on Amazon and my website ditchthedrama.net on Sept. 6th earlier this week!

How does your story relate to the viewer?

No matter what challenges we are faced with, there is peace that God makes available to us.

I was at total peace growing up because of my arm because “He made me this way.” I trusted Him with my body, but not with my path or people.

I had made this identity for myself as the “good girl.” I was on a hamster wheel, constantly working to be good enough and never quite making it enough to please everyone. My life was confusion and chaos.

When I received a DUI in 2011 just after I moved to Nashville, it came crashing down. I didn’t have any solid ground. I didn’t see any future. I had no friends or family around me (they were 850 miles away!).

I had to lean on God to rebuild my identity. My value and sense of self.

I had been so codependent to that point and had no idea what codependency was. When I recognized it as something I could change, that’s when I got off my duff and started working. I applied the Serenity Prayer to every facet of my life. It gave me the FREEDOM to be me and accept me and accept others and not be under their judgement anymore.

Summary of message to audience (key points):

With God, all things are possible.

We can access His peace in the midst of the chaos of this world.

Anyone in a hopeless hole needs to know this is not the end of the story. Relationships don’t have to be so hard. There is so much life and joy even after all the shameful things that we have done or that were done to us.

The Serenity Prayer got me out of that hole. It repaired my relationships. It repaired my view of who I was in Christ. It gave me peace. It gave me confidence. It gave me freedom from the world’s standards.

What are some questions that should be asked to highlight the strength of your topic?

What is drama? And can we ever really be free of it?

What is codependency? And why is it a problem?

What makes the Serenity Prayer so powerful?

3-5 Fuel Points (ex. Three basic steps to take in a traffic emergency):

Come out of Drama we need Trust!:

  • Trust Who God is
  • Trust He made us perfectly
  • Trust Him with the people around us
  • Trust Him with our future (His will!)

I have lived it, but being fully confident in the God who called me, I don’t take a back seat.

Blog: Self Care

By: LouAnn Smith

The topic of self-care seems to be a popular one these days, in both the church and the world. Our hurried lifestyles have created a very unhealthy cultural norm that leaves no real room for listening to God.

A few of Lisa’s guests effectively hit on this subject, but not in a way we are accustomed to hearing. Michael Hulsey, who spent years studying health in the scripture, came to realize that stress, negative emotions, sickness and anxiety cause “hiccups in our souls.” When we neglect to care for our inner man, the first thing to go is we stop renewing our minds. Stress will then cause us to rehearse that negativity, as well as the failures, the disappointments, and the unmet expectations we place on others and ourselves. Dr. LS Burke with Loma Linda University stated that ruminating on a negative emotion or event suppresses your immune system for a minimum of 21 hours. Think about that!!

Self-care, at its core, is guarding our hearts and renewing our minds so we can stay in a place of health.  Just as children are profoundly affected by what told regarding their identity, we are often guilty of doing that same thing to ourselves! The negative impact of this will no doubt create sabotaging patterns that will keep us locked in frustration and incapable of moving forward!

I am learning to listen to the Holy Spirit, to practice speaking His word over every area of my life. In do this, I am guarding my heart and giving Him room to transform my world.

Looking For Happiness?

choose to be happy
choose to be happy

Are you looking for happiness and not finding it? It is very possible that you are just looking in the wrong places. Too many people, wrongly think, that they have to ask for happiness! All you really have to do is listen to your heart in order to find happiness.

Each and every one of us has the ability to love and be happy. It just takes some people more work to uncover what it is that makes them happy. In order to find your joy or happiness you may need to turn off the outside world. Everyone leads such busy lives that you forget that true happiness even exists.
To find those things that make you happy look inside yourself and tap into them. Take a look at what your dreams and hopes center around, what things do you love, and are passionate about?
Once you have uncovered these things, look for a way to add them into your life. You want to try and see if you can’t connect the dots on all these things in some small way. This will lead you to a brighter picture and one that features you as being happy.
If you don’t feel happy currently then take a look at those around you. The chances are these people are unhappy too. Is their unhappiness is spilling over to you? To change this, start looking to mingle with people who have a brighter outlook on life. Can you imagine what the effect of this will be on you? A positive one for sure.
It isn’t that hard to look for your inner happiness. What things make you light up? Is there a certain time of the day that motivates you to do more? What is the one thing you would do if time was of no consequence? Think back and try to remember what you loved to do as a child. Did you spend time drawing or where you happiest when out with animals or working with other people?
Be honest with yourself and write out your answers. The things that you wrote down will be those items that you are passionate about. Then give yourself permission to spend 30 minutes each day following one of your passions. While this isn’t a huge amount of time, it will make a huge difference in your life.

Allow yourself to do those things you love and your happiness will follow.

Positive Thinking Activities

Even the person who is living the best life will have seasons of difficulty or encounter obstacles.
One way to overcome obstacles and difficulties in life is to have a positive mind set. While this is can be difficult to achieve there are several activities you can do to improve the way you think.

Incorporating Affirmations: quotes, and positive messages in your life can be extremely helpful. Activities such as, meditations, mindfulness, and gratefulness journaling can increase a positive outlook. Try falling asleep at night to inspiring music, scripture recordings, or read a positive affirmation or devotion before going to bed.

Express Your Feelings: One simple way is to keep a record of your feelings. This can be done by writing your thoughts and feelings into a journal, either online or by using a pen and a good old-fashioned diary. If you aren’t a writer then playing an instrument can help you express your feelings. Or you may like to paint or draw to express yourself.

Dancing and Singing: Singing and dancing are fun to do no matter if you have a talent for them or not. Both are a great way to show how you are feeling and to rid yourself of negative feelings. If you don’t like to sing or dance then listening to uplifting music can be a great help.

Exercise: It has been shown that exercise helps to increase your endorphins and allows you to feel refreshed and more energized. Try going for a walk first thing in the morning and see if you don’t have more energy during the day.

Talk to a Good Friend: sharing your thought and feelings with a close friend is another therapeutic activity, which is good for your mind and body. A friendly chat with someone can help you put things into perspective and make you understand that things aren’t necessarily as bad as you think.

Change Your Environment: You may not realize it but you can automatically associate certain places with negative thoughts. By going for a walk in a new park or by visiting a new lake you can reinforce good thoughts.
Plus just getting away from it all can be a wonderful way to put your life back into perspective. You can collect your thoughts and organize your priorities and get your life on track along with thinking positive thoughts.

Valuing The Work That You Do

Do you perform the work that you do out of love, instead of obligation? Are you passionate about your work because it is the vessel through which you can use your talents?

By sharing your abilities with a happy attitude, you have an opportunity to enrich the lives of others. When you give your utmost to your work, you exceed expectations.

Infuse joy in every action and decision you make throughout your day. Keep the bigger picture at the forefront of your thoughts. Having work is a privilege, are you grateful?

A grateful heart strengthens you against discouragement and apathy and allows you to work diligently.

What about your family and your work? Do you see the value of your investment? When you give your best to your family, you reap immeasurable benefits for generations to come.

Make your work about more than completing a task. Consider it a way of making a difference in the lives of your family and those with whom you work. Consider that giving your best to your work, places you on the path of increase, and benefit others as well.

Do you have a mindset that inspires you to work harder? Complete your tasks out of good character. Allow self-discipline to guide your actions and be consistent in your performance. Choose to be eager to get the job done and stay on top of your game.

Today, choose to be passionate about what you do.  As your passion for your life’s purpose grows, your commitment to your work grows stronger.

Self-Reflection Questions:

1. What is my attitude toward my responsibilities?
2. Why should I be grateful about the work I am privileged to perform?
3. How can I increase consistency in my actions?
